This is a beautiful, clumping, reed-like plant from South Africa that gets to 4ft tall.
Along the length of the wiry green stems, brown bracts create bands that have quite an ornamental effect.
At the tips of the stems clusters of small brown flowers appear. Found growing in marshes & seeps in South Africa, it can also take drought once established.
Used as thatch for roofing in South Africa.
